Pressed Flower Bowl

There are so many ways you can make a gourd seem so beautiful!

Not only do I like to design on gourds...I love to press fresh flowers and place them into a frame or some other creative project. Here, I have applied them to the surface of a gourd (above) and varnished over them...How do you like this application?

Evening Bags made from canteen gourds are very pretty and functional. Each bag is a unique original and is lined with velvet with an inside pocket and mirror. Hinges are attached for easy open and close and a elastic closure is used. I am happy to design one for you! Contact Me!

Evening Bag

This basket was made from a large cannonball gourd....The design was burned into the surface of the gourd and the leaves on the handle were cut from gourd scraps....It was a quick seller at A New Leaf Open House...but I can reproduce it! Just remember that no two gourds are alike so no two designs will be exactly alike...

Black Chain Trim Bowl

For a more dramatic touch, I painted this gourd with a black marbelized faux finish. I added a chain trim around the opening of the vase.

As you can see, a gourd can be transformed into many useful and lovely designs. All it takes is a little imagination and patience. Sometimes the gourd tells you what it should be. I often look at a gourd for a long time before I decide what shape it wants to take.

Lidded bowl with Red Lily

It's always fun to try a little something different and dramatic. This bowl with lid is one I enjoyed creating. Notice the little butterfly on the top of the lid.
