History of My Hobby

Gourd crafting is a very old art and history says that the gourd may have originated in Africa. They were one of the first cultivated plants.
Long before baskets or pottery they were used by various cultures for many useful purposes such as bowls, ladels, various tools, ceremonial objects and musical instruments. Gourds have been found in Peru dating back to 10,000 B.C.

Who Am I?

I was a designer, author and demonstrator in the craft industry for many years. I worked for many manufacturers, retail businesses, television and publishers.

I am now retired and enjoying my family, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. My grandkids love to come over and create a gourd of their own.
