I save even the smallest piece of left-over gourd...I am sure I will find a use for it in
my crafting adventure. They come in handy for making added decoration for your masterpiece. I use them to make a butterfly
to put on a box or birdhouse, or add legs to the bottom of an uneven gourd or just for that special look I want to achieve.
Put all your left-overs in a box and you will find yourself searching through it many times for just the perfect piece.
Often
times I cut off the top of the gourd to make a vase and the cut off tops may be transformed into interesting little containers
such as the ones I show you on this page.
Here are some examples of what I have done with bits and pieces of gourd
material.
I used a mini bottle gourd for the vase and added flowers made from gourd seeds. The centers of the flowers are timmed with
tiny seed beads.. The leaves of the flowers are made form hand made paper that I made from the pulp of the gourd.
I used the top of a bottle gourd for this votive. It holds a glass votive inside for the candle. Copper plumbing
pipe was used for the stem. Just let your imagination take you to all kinds of interesting horizons.
