So many people I meet say that they have gourds but they don't know what to do with them...I hope you will find some inspiration here...

clock

The clock and the nativity were made from the same gourd that had been cut in half.

Clock: I drew the design on the face of the clock with a pencil and them used a wood burn pen to burn the design into the gourd. I then stained the gourd and gave it a varnish finish.

The nativity was painted and the little figures of Mary and Joseph were made from mini bottle gourds. The little baby Jesus was made from a piece of gourd. The star and banner were cut from pieces of gourd. This is one of my very popular Christmas designs.

This whimsical stylized Bird is always the center of attention and brings many delightful smiles to those who view him.
He is made from a goose gourd and is perched on a piece of driftwood.

Tiffany Evening Bag

Canteen gourds may be transformed
into a lovely evening bag.

The whale is made from a penquin gourd. His tail and fins were cut from pieces of gourd. He is anchored into a base of driftwood.
The whale has been a very popular fellow! Each one is a design of it's own because each gourd used is different in it's shape and character. That's what makes gourd crafting so much fun!!!

Indian Design Bowl

A simple bowl may become a decorator piece with the addition of design. The design is accomplished with a wood burn technique.

Chef

Often I am asked to customize a particular personality on a gourd. The above chef was done by request. I find this challenge always fun!
